Irish Orienteering Sprint Champs, Limerick.

3.5 k Sprint Orienteering

2 hr drive to Limerick from Dublin. Of course being the dumb forever hopeful guy I am, I decided to try the coffee at Birdhill, yet again. It just is the place that should sell the best coffee in Ireland. Only to be be let down again, like Charlie Brown and that elusive kick of the football with Lucy.

This has a good ending though. On the way back we decided to divert to Roscrea for a snack and hit the coffee jackpot.

Strong coffee is one of the essentials pre orienting.

Anyway the O course was around the university of limerick.

M65 course in blue to make it stand out

Nice course, but colours and fine detail were non optimal for me so forward planning not an option as I needed to concentrate on my actual position. Finished 3rd, 2nd Irish , so not bad, considering all that hesitation on the course.

Jackie came 3rd! First ever podium finish at the Irish Champs

Of course all this pales in significance compared to Aoife’s third place in the IMRA Powerscourt Ridge selection race for the European Hill Running Championships in Slovenia.
