New floor and sink .

A DIY deep dive

I think you will agree that the sink could be better in our en suite bathroom.

Thankfully along with all the IKEA bedroom items a new sink was included to replace this.

The floor proved to have an issue though. On trying to sweep up Jackie realise it was not perfectly flat, so the pan and brush always left a residue. Since she didn’t like the lino anyway, thought was given to how to cure this. Self levelling compound seemed to be the solution and trying to minimise the increase in floor height we went with just replacing the lino, rather than me learning tiling skills.

Self levelling compound ??? A few days on YouTube got me prepared and so.

With a visit to B&Q the replacement vinyl was chosen and I spent the next day puzzling how to lay a single sheet of vinyl down. With intricate cuts around the toilet and pipes it was definitely a bit of a struggle, but from a distance you can’t see all the defects.

I haven’t mentioned the plumbing for the sink, that took a while as well. It was a bit of a headache trying to stop the water flow, but a least now each input line has a valve. The outlet is a mix of imperial and metric just to add to the conundrum of the install.

Don’t ask about the skirting board and wall tiles, I’ll get there eventually.

Now to source a shower door ……………….
