My new shoes.
Lidl , carbon plates shoes
A bargain at €50, at least they seem to be. But what to do with new running shoes if you have a sensitive achilles and the back tab comes up too high. Well you just take out a pair of sissors and cut a 1 cm slit down the heel. Don’t worry about them slipping, I’ve been doing it for twenty years or more.

It may seem a bit mad to do this and you haven’t gone out for a run in them but it works. I remember years back in Queen’s, Mark Kirk doing this. ( he’s now the Endurance Coordinator at Athletics NI )
After this I took them out for a test run and went speedily around my loop. Was it me or the shoes ? Who knows, but whats nice is that they hug my feet and dont look bad on.
